We are alerted to a cautionary, real-life tale about the dangers of leaving an ill-considered online trail as one matures through the school years and into adulthood. See it here in the Guardian. The Parent Council ran an induction session for senior pupils on this very subject last year; the session was led by a Broughton parent who advises professionals on management of their cyber-profiles. Social media posts last a long time, and their spread is uncontrollable. It’s a hard truth about the age of the Internet, but inculcating discretion and long-term critical thinking about reputation is one of the things we simply must do for our children.
