Broughton Association meeting – Thursday 4th April 7pm

If you’d like to get involved with the wonderful Broughton High School Association, or just find out more about what they do, head along to their meeting at 7pm on Thursday 4th April in the school staff room.

Without BHSA there would be NO Septemberfest, YMI and Chess cafés etc and much, much less money to support the school and pupils subsidising trips and projects, valuable equipment and much more!  See their page on our website for more details.

Several of the core committee members will be leaving the school at the end of this school year – we need to build a new team!

Getting involved is a fantastic way to meet other parents while supporting your child’s school. You can sign up for as much or as little as you feel able to do, or just pop in for a chat.

If you can’t make it to this meeting but are interested in helping out, please email:  bhsassociation@gmail.com

Parent Council Meeting – Wednesday 3rd April, 6pm

The next Parent Council meeting is this Wednesday, 3rd April, from 6pm.  Meetings are held in the school staff-room on the first floor.  All parents/carers are welcome to attend, and there is no problem if you can’t stay for the full meeting.

PC meetings are a great opportunity to find out what is happening at the school and to meet members of the senior leadership team and other parents.

Draft minutes of earlier meetings are available in the “About” section of our website.

Help required! Broughton Association

The Broughton High School Association (BHSA) is the fundraising arm of the Parent Council. We raise money to support BHS students. For example, the money we raise pays for:
  • School ties for all S1 pupils
  • Sports strips
  • Classroom resources
  • Other activities
  • Subsidies the cost of school trips
BHSA meets on the first Thursday of the month during term time, from 7-8pm, usually in the Waitrose Community Room but sometimes in the school. This year, a number of our members are leaving as they will no longer have children attending the school. We need to recruit new members so that we can carry on with fundraising. We are looking for people to help with the following:
  • Attending meetings and helping to organise fundraising activities
  • Volunteering to help at the Saturday morning cafe (this runs in term time and provides hot drinks and snacks for parent and children attending the Youth Music Initiative classes and other activities) Shifts are one hour long.
  • Volunteering to help at occasional Sunday Chess Cafes (these are held in the school 4-5 times a year)
  • Providing home baking for YMI Cafe or the Chess Cafes
  • Making soup for the Chess Cafes
  • Volunteering to help at events, e.g. Septemberfest

Please note that you do not have to do all of the above! You can help as much or as little as you like. We would also be very interested to hear from anyone who can help keep our accounts in order.

If you would like to be added to our mailing list, or to help with any specific activities please email us on bhsassociation@gmail.com
With best wishes,
Broughton High School Association

Volunteers needed for Chess Café – Sunday 3rd March

The Broughton Association are looking for volunteers to help at our cafe on Sunday 3rd March at Broughton High. We provide cafes at the regular chess tournaments held at the school – this helps raise valuable funds for extra resources, trips, support, and extra-curricular clubs and activities. You’ll find us in the Hub.

So, if you can spare an hour (or more) between 10 and 4, or provide some baking, that would be lovely.   Come along, meet other Broughton High parents and help your child’s school!
