SeptemberFest – Saturday 29th September

A reminder that our amazing community event, SeptemberFest, is this coming Saturday!  11a.m.- 4p.m. at the school – free entry!  There will be a huge range of activities, indoors and outdoors – there really is something for all ages!  We’ll have a Minions bouncy castle and hook-a-duck for the wee ones,  a huge range of sports, dance and gymnastic tasters and performances, drama and magic shows, music from the talent City of Edinburgh Music School pupils, roller disco, inflatable assault course, Nerf gun target and much, much more!

We are still looking for volunteers who can help out for just an hour on the day.  If you can help, please e-mail: septemberfestbhs@gmail.com .

SeptemberFest is organised by the Broughton Association’s small but extremely dedicated team, who put in months’ of planning to bring everything together on the day.  Entry is free and costs for activities are kept as low as possible to make it accessible to everyone in our community.

Parents & Carers – Please support our Work Experience programme

We urgently need help to find work experience placements for our S4 pupils in November.  As things stand, we have only been offered just 40 places this year – only enough for one in every five S4 pupils.

Could you, or your employer, help by offering a work experience placement to a Broughton High School S4 Pupil?  Ideally, the placement would be scheduled in the week 5 to 9 November 2018, but other times in the year will also be possible; placements can be anything from a few half-days to a full week.

We are especially keen to find placements in the career areas shown below; these were highlighted by pupils as being of specific interest.

Employers offering placements are required by Edinburgh Council to register with theGateway organisation,  in advance.  This process can take up to 6 weeks, so we ideally need to identify placement opportunities by 24 September 2018.

If you can help or would like more information, please email Broughton Works Parents Group via clerk.bhspc@broughtonhighpc.org

Thank you in anticipation,

Aletta Ritchie, Graeme Robertson, Jenny Wilson
