New FAQs page and Ask a Parent e-mail

There is a lot for parents and carers to learn when their child starts High School!  We have set up a new FAQ page on the Parent Council website (broughtonhighpc.org) which will answer some of the questions people new to the school might have, e.g:

Who do I contact if I need to speak to someone about my child?

What are the different classes – tutor group, point and sets?

How will I find out about my child’s progress?

The school’s website, social media and the new app all provide information, but sometimes you just want to ask another parent!  Unlike at primary school, we don’t have the same opportunities to bump into each other at the school gate, so the PC have set up an e-mail service.  E-mail:

askaparent@broughtonhighpc.org

and a volunteer from the PC will do their best to help!  Obviously, they will not be able to comment re. individual pupils or staff, but they can offer advice from the parent’s point of view.

Many thanks to Claire Cowell and Lucy Mason, parents at the school, who have put a lot of effort into bringing these FAQs and the e-mail service together!

June reminders – Chess cafés and PC meeting

We have our last few events of the school year coming up:

Fundraising chess cafés –
Volunteers warmly welcomed at the chess cafés in the school hub on Sunday 2nd June and Sunday 16th June, 10-4pm.  If you can help for an hour on the day, please contact:
bhsassociation@gmail.com

Parent Council meeting –
All parents and carers are welcome to attend the last PC meeting of the term on Wednesday 5th June from 6pm.  Hear about the school’s plans for next year, meet other parents, and maybe sample some home baking….

Parent Council meeting – Wednesday 5th June 2019

The last Parent Council meeting of the school year is on Wednesday, 5th June, from 6pm.  Meetings are held in the school staff-room on the first floor.  All parents/carers are welcome to attend, and there is no problem if you can’t stay for the full meeting.

PC meetings are a great opportunity to find out what is happening at the school and to meet members of the senior leadership team and other parents.

Draft minutes of earlier meetings are available in the “About” section of our website.

May 200 Club Draw

Bringing some cheer to a chilly May, our 200 Club draw will make you rich beyond the dreams of avarice!….or maybe not… Are you a lucky winner?

Chess Cafés – Sunday 2nd June and Sunday 16th June

The Broughton Association are looking for volunteers to help at the last cafés this school year on Sunday 2nd June and Sunday 16th June at Broughton High. We provide cafes at the regular chess tournaments held at the school – this helps raise valuable funds for extra resources, trips, support, and extra-curricular clubs and activities. You’ll find us in the Hub.

If you can spare an hour (or more) between 10 and 4, or provide some baking, or make some soup,  that would be lovely.   Come along, meet other Broughton High parents and help your child’s school!
This is your last chance to help us fill the BHSA coffers before the end of term – and fundraising means more opportunities for every pupil at the school.
