Dig It! 2015 and Previously…Scotland’s History Festival invite career starters and S4-6 secondary school students from Edinburgh to our free Careers Fair on Friday 20 November 2015 in Edinburgh. This event will show students how an interest in the past can open the door to a huge range of careers, from archaeology, media and tourism to science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
In addition to a range of stalls, a selection of talks and networking opportunities will be on offer throughout the event. It will also include an interactive panel on careers and hands-on workshops.
Young people, teachers, societies, groups and even entire classrooms are welcome to come along for the whole afternoon or just pop in for one or two sessions.
Participating organisations including National Museums Scotland, Museums Galleries Scotland, the National Library of Scotland, Mercat Tours and more!

An invitation for students, parents and staff interested in universities in the USA and Europe
On 12 November at 6.30 pm – 8.30pm Fettes College is hosting a visit by representatives from the Council of International Schools (CIS) as part of their tour of Northern European High Schools.
The visit is led by Vanderbilt and Emory universities (15 and 21 in US National Rankings respectively), but includes a range of other institutions.
There will be short presentations about forward planning for application to US universities and financial aid, but the main purpose of the event is for students to be able to talk directly to university representatives.
Pupils and parents from S4, S5 and S6 are all welcome – and, of course, all staff colleagues are warmly invited.
Invitation to judge the YPI Final on Wednesday 18th Nov.
Would someone from the parent council be free to come and help to judge the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) final in Broughton High School on Wednesday 18th November at 2pm it will probably last till 3/3.30 pm?
This is a programme that all S5 pupils are involved in during Citizenship time and they have the chance to win £3,000 to give to a charity within Edinburgh. They will be doing presentations on Wednesday 18th November to show the charities that they have visited. The Wood family trust donate £2,500 to the winning team and the school will raise an extra £500 to give to the winning team to make it up to £3,000 which is then given to the charity.

If you would like to be a YPI judge, please drop a note to Lydia Milazzo, RMPS and Psychology teacher at Broughton, at intouch@broughtonhighpc.org.
