We are looking for volunteers to help staff our cafe on Sunday 6th Nov in 1 hour slots from 9am to 4pm. This is for the National Concert Band Competition, being held at Broughton High School. We run cafes at events at the school to help raise valuable funds for the school for things that are not normally covered by the school budgets such as extra trips, after school and lunch clubs, extra equipment, school ties, etc.
We rely on parents to help staff these cafes and as you so kindly helped at Septemberfest we thought we would ask for your help again.
Broughton High School Association (the PTA bit of the Parent Council)
Would someone from the parent council be free to come and help to judge the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) final in Broughton High School on Wednesday 18th November at 2pm it will probably last till 3/3.30 pm?
This is a programme that all S5 pupils are involved in during Citizenship time and they have the chance to win £3,000 to give to a charity within Edinburgh. They will be doing presentations on Wednesday 18th November to show the charities that they have visited. The Wood family trust donate £2,500 to the winning team and the school will raise an extra £500 to give to the winning team to make it up to £3,000 which is then given to the charity.

If you would like to be a YPI judge, please drop a note to Lydia Milazzo, RMPS and Psychology teacher at Broughton, at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Now that all the ticket money is in, Jane Bremner reports that the final figure for the Comedy Benefit Night at the Stand is £1,054, which is amazing!
Just in case you missed it, here’s the fantastic finale to our Septemberfest this year. Great dancing, great fun! No wonder the whole city comes to Broughton High School events.
There is a ‘concert band festival’ at the school on Sunday 3rd November from 9:00 until 19:00. We’ve been asked to run a cafe at it, and would appreciate some more parent volunteers helpers. It’s not an onerous task — it just means serving tea and coffee for an hour or two on Sunday. It’s also a great opportunity for parents to get together and get to know the school better as well as helping to enhance the reputation of Broughton.
If you’d like to get onto this rota, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
